Denver and Peyton Manning made it official on Tuesday morning when the Broncos signed him to a 5 year contract worth $96 million. Manning gets $18 million this year, $40 million in 2013 & 2014, and $19 million in 2015 & 2016. Also Manning will have to take a physical each year to make sure that his health is up to standard in order to receive these clauses in his contract.
This still seems like a move that is mind blowing considering that the 49ers was a ready made team. The 49ers are a team with an outstanding defense, great receiving core with the additions of Moss and Manningham, a stout running game, and one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. However, Peter King of Sports Illustrated said on Twitter that Manning did not want to play under the pressure of a “Superbowl or bust team.” Certainly odd coming from a quarterback who is a 4 time MVP and a Superbowl champion.
News conference for the official introduction of Manning sign with the Broncos will be today at 3pm EST.
