Sean Payton Suspended
The league office spoke out today as the NFL suspends New Orleans head coach Sean Payton for the year. The cloud of the “bounty program” that was rumored to be ran by the Saints underneath defensive coordinator Greg Williams was uncovered last month, and now a sentence has been given. It has been much speculation with NFL analyst as what they thought would be given out as far as punishment. Many speculated that it would only be 8 games, which would be half a season. However, now one expected that it would be for a whole NFL year.
There are a lot of things that are looming with this news coming down, one being the contract of Drew Brees. The Saints are still in negotiations with Brees and have not come to terms as of yet. The question is, “Who will run the organization while Payton who’s suspended for the year, and the general manager who was suspended half of the year?” There are other penalties that have been issued along with this suspension. The Saints also have to give up their 2nd round picks for 2012 and 2013, and fined $500K.
Greg Williams was also suspended by the NFL today as he was suspended indefinitely.
